Tough Questions #2

Here's the second installment of our Tough Questions series.  In this one Bob Blaghblaub struggles with the question, "Why doesn't God always answer our prayers the way we want him to?"  He gets some help from another recurring Kids' City character...Paul the Appossum, the foremost Bible scholar in all the woods.

Tough Questions #1

We're in the middle of a 4 weeks series called "Tough Questions" here in Kids' City.  For this series we polled our elementary kids and asked what questions they would ask God or the leaders of the church if they could ask anything.  Of course the questions ranged from "Who created God?" to "Can we have snacks in Kids' City?"  Always interesting to see what's on kids' minds!  We picked 4 of the most frequently asked questions and tried to tackle them with this series.  Of course, once you try to write curriculum addressing tough questions you realize why they are tough questions to begin with.  We didn't try to have all the answers because we don't, but we did try to help kids navigate some of these issues.

For this series we brought back several of our recurring characters.  The main one is Bob Blaghblaub, our iWitness News anchor.  In this video Bob wrestles with the tough question, "Why does God allow people to do bad things?"  Enjoy!

This is Your Life

We just finished up our Easter series called "Earthquake."  During this series we talked about how God shakes up our expectations.  This final week focused on the story of Saul's conversion.  Remember the classic Sesame Street segment "Here is Your Life" with Guy Smiley?  We thought that might be a fun way to tell Saul/Paul's story.  God shook up Saul's life and he wants to shake ours up too.

H2OT-Moses

Continuing in our H2OT series on Old Testament stories that involve lots and lots of water, here is week two...Moses and the parting of the Red Sea.  The Big Idea this week is that God's power can turn any problem around.  We're using a short-film teaching for each week of this series.

Baptism at the Water Fountain

Do kids worry that they'll look like a freak if they talk to their friends about God or invite them to church?  Here's a video we made for a lesson that challenged kids to help other kids find their way back to God.

Is Santa in the Bible?

Time for a new series!  It's "A Crazy Christmas!"  Honestly, I can hardly believe it is time for a Christmas series already.  Where did another year go?  In this series we're talking about turning Christmas upside down by making different choices this year.  This week's Big Idea: This Crazy Christmas I'll be grateful instead of greedy.  The lesson was based on the Parable of the Vineyard Workers, but since it is Christmas time we put a little twist on the story.  Here's a video we used as part of the large group time.
